Connecticut Manufacturing Innovation Fund — Apprenticeship Program
Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD), administered by the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology (CCAT)
Up to $15,000 per apprentice
CT manufacturing apprentice wage subsidy
The Apprenticeship Program is a talent-development track of Connecticut's Manufacturing Innovation Fund (MIF) that subsidizes the wages of registered apprentices and pre-apprentices at Connecticut manufacturers, helping them train and fill critical positions. An employer sponsor can receive a wage subsidy of up to $3,750 per apprentice per six-month period, up to $15,000 per apprentice over the full apprenticeship, and up to $15,000 per sponsor per six-month period (covering up to four apprentices). Grants can also support tuition and credentialing reimbursement. The program is administered by CCAT and is distinct from the MIF Voucher Program (MVP) and Incumbent Worker Training. It is currently active.

How to apply
-
1
Sponsor an apprentice and confirm eligibility
As a CT manufacturer, sponsor a registered apprentice or pre-apprentice in a manufacturing role and confirm the program's caps and requirements.
~3 hrs
-
2
Apply through the CCAT grants portal
Submit the Apprenticeship Program application via grants.ccat.us with apprentice and wage details. CCAT administers on behalf of DECD's MIF.
~3 hrs
-
3
Claim wage subsidy per period
Submit wage-subsidy claims (up to $3,750 per apprentice per six-month period; up to $15,000 per apprentice total), plus any tuition/credentialing reimbursement, with documentation.
~3 hrs
Run up to four apprentices concurrently to capture the full $15,000-per-sponsor per-six-month ceiling rather than one at a time — the per-sponsor cap, not just the per-apprentice cap, is what limits a six-month draw. Pair it with the Incumbent Worker Training track for non-apprentice staff.
Deadline & timing
Wage-subsidy claims are made per six-month period over the apprenticeship; an employer sponsor may claim for up to four apprentices per year.
