Michigan automotive parts suppliers making ICE vehicle components can get $500K–$2M to retool, re-equip, and retrain their workforce to produce electric or hybrid vehicle components. Who qualifies
- Domestic business located in Michigan (must be incorporated/registered in the US)
- Currently manufacturing parts, components, or materials for internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles
- Plans to expand or convert production to electric vehicle (EV) or hybrid vehicle components
- Fewer than 1,500 total employees OR the project facility has 500 or fewer employees on-site
- Evidence of community awareness and local economic incentives strengthens application
- Must be in good standing under Michigan law (Certificate of Good Standing required)

Ineligible expenses
- Expenses unrelated to the ICE-to-EV production conversion
- Costs incurred before grant award notification
- Expenses not expended by December 31, 2029
- Salary of existing employees for ongoing production (non-training labor)
- Construction of new facilities (equipment and retooling only)

Create or confirm your account on the Michigan Hub for Manufacturers platform, which is linked to the grant administration system.

Register with LEO's EGrAMs system
Complete organizational registration in Michigan's Electronic Grant Administration Management System (EGrAMs) — this is the submission portal. Allow 5–7 business days for account approval.

Prepare project narrative and budget
Document current ICE production lines, describe the planned EV/hybrid conversion, identify specific equipment/training needed, and build a detailed budget showing how funds will be used and expended by 12/31/2029.

Submit RFP application through EGrAMs
Submit the complete application including project narrative, budget, organizational documentation, and evidence of community awareness. Applications are reviewed competitively by the Community and Worker Economic Transition Office.

Award negotiation and grant execution
Selected applicants receive award notices and enter grant agreement negotiations with LEO. Funds disbursed on reimbursement basis as project milestones are completed.
