The CGBN Efficiency Grant funds custom energy, fuel, and water efficiency projects for Colorado businesses, nonprofits, schools, organizations, and local governments. Awards cover up to $1,500, $3,000, or $4,500 in eligible costs depending on the applicant's Colorado EnviroScreen percentile score, and the grant pays for equipment, shipping, installation, labor, and recycling. Projects cannot be completed before application.

Who qualifies
- Must be a business, nonprofit, school, organization, or local government located in Colorado
- Must be registered and in good standing with the Colorado Secretary of State

- Project must reduce total energy, fuel, or water use or increase operational efficiency
- Estimated savings must be documented by a contractor in writing or by the business with calculations, assumptions, and data sources

Sign up for free in GreenBiz Tracker at least before applying for the Efficiency Grant.

Identify custom efficiency project
Select a project that saves energy, fuel, or water and obtain contractor quotes with estimated costs and savings.

Submit application online
Apply through the CGBN Efficiency Grant link during the August 1, 2026-May 1, 2027 cycle.

Complete project and submit photos
Once approved, CGBN pays the contractor/equipment vendor directly. Install the equipment and submit photos of the completed project.

Businesses in EnviroScreen percentile 60-100 receive the $4,500 tier—if your location is in a disproportionately burdened community, this grant becomes one of the highest per-dollar efficiency incentives available.
Deadline & timing
2026-2027 funding cycle runs August 1, 2026 to May 1, 2027. This is not a reimbursement program—projects cannot be completed prior to application.
