Hot Bread Kitchen — HBK Incubates Food Business Program
Hot Bread Kitchen
In-kind (free program)
Free NYC food-business incubator
HBK Incubates is a free food-business support program from Hot Bread Kitchen, a New York City nonprofit, that helps food entrepreneurs — with a focus on women of color and immigrant women — seed, start, and scale small food businesses. The program runs three tiers (Seed, Start, Scale) and provides access to commercial/licensed kitchen space, technical assistance, culinary and business training, customer connections, and connections to capital. It is offered at no cost to members and runs year-round with rolling admissions across NYC locations. Rather than a one-time cash grant, HBK Incubates is an in-kind, capacity-building program: members gain affordable production space and a pipeline to capital, customers, and growth resources. Hot Bread Kitchen received a $1 million TD Ready Challenge grant in 2024 to expand the program.

Treat HBK Incubates as a launchpad, not a check: the real value is the licensed commercial kitchen access (which can cost a NYC food startup hundreds to over a thousand dollars a month elsewhere) plus the 'connections to capital' pipeline. Come in with a clear product and growth goal so the team can route you to the right tier and capital partners.
Deadline & timing
