Who qualifies

Verify active license and good standing with KCMO
Confirm all business licenses and permits are current. Request a KCMO Tax Clearance Letter from the City Finance Department — this is required with the application. Clearance letters typically take 5–10 business days.

Plan your outdoor dining enhancement project and get quotes
Define the scope: patio structure, walkway expansion, outdoor furniture, umbrellas/coverings, or permit costs. Obtain contractor or vendor quotes. The project must result in a net increase in outdoor dining tables available to customers.

Submit the application to KCMO

Receive award and complete improvements
Award notifications are typically issued within 4–6 weeks of a complete application. Purchase approved materials and complete the outdoor dining improvements. Document completion with photos.

Submit paid receipts for reimbursement per the grant agreement terms. Grant recipients also receive reduced City permit/inspection fees for sidewalk and street café assembly as an additional benefit.
