How to apply
-
1
Identify a qualifying nonprofit or academic partner
Before applying, identify a Massachusetts nonprofit, community college, or quasi-public entity willing to co-sponsor the project. This partner will typically provide technical assistance, training, or workforce development support alongside your capital purchase. Contact local MEP centers, community colleges, or industry associations.
-
2
Undergo third-party assessment
Selected applicants undergo an in-depth third-party assessment (arranged through MassTech CAM) to identify the most effective capital purchases. This assessment shapes the final grant budget. The assessment may be completed before or during the application process.
-
3
Submit NOFO application (deadline December 2, 2026)
Submit the complete MMAP application including project description, nonprofit partner information, capital purchase plan, matching funds documentation, and projected Industry 4.0 technology impact. Submit via the CAM portal or email proposals@masstech.org.
-
4
Review and award negotiation
MassTech CAM reviews applications, confirms third-party assessment results, and issues award agreements. Awards typically announced within 60–90 days of deadline.
-
5
Purchase equipment and submit for reimbursement
After award, procure the qualifying capital equipment per the approved budget. Submit paid invoices for reimbursement. Matching funds must be spent first or concurrent with grant funds.
Industry & certifications
NAICS codes: 31, 32, 33
Finding the right nonprofit partner is the hidden bottleneck. Contact NEMS MEP or local community colleges early — they're pre-approved MMAP partners and know the application format. A cybersecurity-focused application can also qualify under the separate $30K MMAP Cybersecurity Round with fewer requirements.
Deadline & timing
FY2026 round NOFO is 2026-CAM-01. Applications due December 2, 2026. Program runs annual cycles through MassTech CAM. A separate MMAP Cybersecurity Round offers up to $30,000 for cybersecurity-specific projects (check masscybercenter.org for separate deadlines). Contact: proposals@masstech.org.
