ACCEL (Advancing Climatetech and Clean Energy Leaders) is a one-year accelerator co-run by Greentown Labs and Browning the Green Space, offering $25,000 in non-dilutive grant funding plus incubation space, mentorship, and curriculum to BIPOC-led climate technology startups. Up to eight companies are selected annually from a competitive pool of 140+ applicants. Who qualifies

- No geographic restriction — national program (companies relocate to Greentown Boston or Houston for incubation period)
- Companies must commit to participating in the full one-year ACCEL curriculum and programming
- No equity taken by Greentown Labs or Browning the Green Space

Interview and selection
Shortlisted founders are invited to interview with Greentown Labs and Browning the Green Space staff. Final cohort of ~8 companies announced publicly. Year 3 cohort was announced in February 2025 after a multi-month selection process.

Participate in one-year ACCEL program
Selected companies receive the $25,000 grant, incubation space at Greentown, and engage with the curated curriculum covering product/technology development, market development, fundraising, and management. Corporate partner introductions and investor network access included.

ACCEL explicitly prioritizes founders at the intersection of BIPOC identity and deep climate-tech expertise — having both a credible decarbonization technology AND a compelling personal story about what structural barriers you've faced gets through to interviews. Greentown values hardware/deep-tech over pure software plays.
