Backstage Capital Accelerator Program

Backstage Capital

$100K for 5% equity

The short version

$100K seed equity accelerator for underrepresented founders

Backstage Capital runs an accelerator program for underrepresented founders — women, people of color, and LGBTQ+ entrepreneurs — providing a seed equity investment of $100,000 for 5% equity, paired with a 4–5 month intensive curriculum, mentorship, and a dedicated community. This is a dilutive equity investment by a venture capital firm, not a non-dilutive grant. Program cohorts are selected periodically and have included founders across tech, consumer products, and services.

Insider tip

Backstage Capital was founded to fund founders traditional VCs overlook — your identity as an underrepresented founder is part of the pitch, not a footnote. Founders who have engaged with the Backstage Capital community (newsletter, events) before applying tend to have higher acceptance rates.

Deadline & timing

Backstage Capital has run multiple accelerator cohorts since 2017. Cohort timing is not annual or fixed — it depends on fundraising and program availability. Monitor their website and newsletter for upcoming cohort announcements. As of May 2026 no active application window has been confirmed for 2026.
